The optimal time for sowing is early spring when the soil begins to warm, or late autumn for winter sowing. Winter planting allows the seeds to undergo natural stratification, often leading to more vigorous and uniform emergence compared to spring planting.
Seeds should be sown in rows spaced approximately 45–60 centimeters apart. This spacing allows sufficient space for plant development and facilitates weed control during the initial stages of growth when the plants are most vulnerable to competition.
The sowing depth is typically 1 to 2 centimeters. Because the seeds are relatively small, care must be taken not to bury them too deeply, as this can delay emergence and weaken the seedlings. Firming the soil after sowing helps ensure proper contact.

Once dried, the raw material should be cleaned of debris and sorted for quality. The final product should be brittle, retain a natural green color, and be free of any mold, with a moisture content of no more than 12 percent.
Storage should be in cool, dry, and well-ventilated areas away from direct sunlight. When stored correctly, the dried Lebanese hare's ear maintains its medicinal effectiveness for a period of up to three years.
