Tillandsia pseudosetacea is an atmospheric epiphyte belonging to the Bromeliaceae family. Native to the tropical forests of Central America, including Mexico and Guatemala, this species is well-adapted to surviving on tree branches where it gathers nutrients and moisture from the air.
The plant features a distinct morphology with narrow, setaceous leaves forming a dense pseudobulb at the base. These leaves are covered in silver-grey trichomes, which are specialized cells that absorb moisture and minerals, allowing the plant to thrive without traditional soil-based roots.
To cultivate this species, it is essential to maintain an ambient temperature between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius. Exposure to extreme cold or prolonged direct high heat must be avoided, as the plant's metabolism relies on a stable tropical climate to function efficiently.
Light requirements for Tillandsia pseudosetacea are best met with bright, filtered indirect light. While they can tolerate some direct morning sun, intense afternoon sun is detrimental, potentially causing bleaching and scorching of the delicate, thin leaf structure.
Humidity is the most critical factor in their agrotechnology. The environment should be kept at 60–80% relative humidity. Regular misting or periodic submersing in water is necessary, followed by adequate air movement to ensure the center of the rosette dries out within a few hours.

General hygiene, including keeping the growing area clean and removing any dead foliage, is essential for disease prevention. Providing optimal airflow is the most effective way to inhibit the growth of spores and larvae that may negatively impact the development of the plant.
