To successfully cultivate this species, it is essential to replicate its natural mountainous habitat. The plant thrives in temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C, and it specifically benefits from a significant temperature drop at night, which helps regulate its metabolic rhythm.
Humidity is the most critical environmental factor for the health of Tillandsia schreiteri. The surrounding air should maintain a humidity level of 60% to 70%. In indoor settings, regular misting with soft or distilled water is necessary to keep the plant hydrated without waterlogging it.
Regarding placement, the plant does not require a traditional growing medium. Instead, it should be mounted on natural materials like driftwood, bark, or cork. This mimics its natural growth pattern and ensures that the root system has sufficient airflow to prevent rot.
