Acetamiprid

Description

Mode of action

Acetamiprid belongs to the neonicotinoid chemical class and is a highly effective systemic insecticide. It targets the central nervous system of insects, acting as an agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Upon entering the pest's body, the substance causes irreversible excitation of nerve cells, leading to paralysis and subsequent death. Due to its high systemic activity, the product quickly penetrates plant tissues.

One of its key features is translaminar action, which allows the substance to move within the leaf, destroying pests even on the underside of the leaf blade.

The product exhibits significant contact-stomach activity, maintaining efficacy regardless of air temperature, unlike many other insecticide groups.

The effect on pests occurs both through direct spraying and by their ingestion of treated plant parts.

What it targets

Acetamiprid is used to control a wide range of sucking and chewing pests belonging to the orders Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, and Coleoptera.

  • Aphids and whiteflies
  • Thrips and bugs
  • Colorado potato beetle
  • Leafrollers and cutworms
  • Scale insects

Rates and timing

The application rate varies depending on the crop type and the level of infestation, usually ranging from 0.05 to 0.3 kg/ha of active ingredient.

Treatments are carried out during the growing season when the first signs of pests appear, ensuring uniform coverage of the leaf surface with the working solution.

Restrictions

Despite its high efficiency, acetamiprid is toxic to beneficial insects, including honey bees, so spraying should be performed during early morning or evening hours.

To prevent the development of resistance, it is recommended to rotate the use of this product with insecticides from other chemical classes.
