Regarding their biology and life cycle, these animals are strictly nocturnal and highly energetic. Their diet consists largely of sugar-rich resources, which draws them to plantation crops. They exhibit a slow reproductive rate compared to rodents, meaning that their presence in fields is often more about established territorial behavior than explosive population outbreaks.
The nature of the damage is characterized by gnawing and wounding of delicate plant parts, such as young buds and developing fruits.
