The damage caused by Japygidae is primarily observed in nurseries, greenhouses, and fields with high seedling density. They feed on roots and root hairs, leading to stunted growth, wilting, and reduced nutrient uptake. In vulnerable stages, such as seedling emergence, feeding activity can easily compromise the plant's ability to survive and develop robust root systems.

Regarding their biology, Japygidae thrive in stable, moist environments with high organic content. They have an incomplete metamorphosis, with larvae resembling adults in form.
