From an agronomical perspective, mole salamanders are highly beneficial organisms. They act as natural biological control agents by consuming large quantities of garden pests, including slugs, insect larvae, and beetles that would otherwise cause significant damage to crops. Their presence indicates a balanced, healthy environment within the farm or garden ecosystem.
There is absolutely no harmful impact on agriculture associated with these salamanders. They do not cause yield loss, nor do they compete with cash crops. Mislabeling them as pests is a misconception; they are sensitive creatures that provide free pest regulation services to farmers, contributing to integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
Regarding management, there is no need for control measures against Ambystomatidae; instead, they should be protected.
