Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Pemphigidae typically involves heteroecy, meaning they migrate between primary (woody) and secondary (herbaceous) hosts. Winter survival occurs primarily in the egg stage, tucked away in bark crevices. Upon hatching in the spring, the nymphs initiate the formation of galls on the leaves or stems of the primary host, where they feed and undergo multiple generations sheltered by the plant tissue.

Character of damage and economic impact: The primary economic damage is caused by the formation of galls, which disrupt the plant's vascular system and metabolic processes.
