Anna

Anna rapeseed variety is an winter Ukrainian-Serbian variety, developed jointly by the Institute of Oil Crops in Zaporizhzhia and the Institute of Irrigation and Vegetable Growing in Novi Sad (Serbia). It belongs to the medium-early maturity group with a vegetation period of 285–288 days. Anna rapeseed is characterized by high winter hardiness (4.8 points), resistance to lodging, drought, shattering, and typical diseases, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including forest-steppe, steppe, and Polissia.

Plants of this variety reach a height of about 160 cm, have a straight, round, and branched stem with 5–7 lateral branches that emerge at a height of 48–50 cm. Seeds are spherical-oval, black, with a 1000-seed mass of 4.2–4.5 g. The variety is distinguished by high oil content (45% to 49.7%) and protein (21.9–22.9%), while erucic acid content is minimal (0.2% or absent), and glucosinolate levels are low (0.6–0.8% or 16 μmol/g), ensuring high product quality.

Anna is intended for production of food-grade oil, processing into biofuel, and production of high-quality meal for animal feed. The variety is technologically suitable and well-suited for mechanized cultivation. The recommended seeding rate is 4.5–6 kg/ha. Potential yield reaches 50 centners/ha (5 tons/ha), while average yields vary by region: approximately 36.9 centners/ha in forest-steppe, 33.8 centners/ha in steppe, confirming its high productivity and adaptability.
