Over-application can lead to nutrient imbalances. Excess phosphorus may block the absorption of vital micronutrients like zinc and iron, leading to chlorosis. Excess potassium can interfere with the uptake of nitrogen and magnesium, hampering biomass production.

When used in greenhouse environments, application rates must be calculated carefully, accounting for the composition of the irrigation water and the growing substrate to avoid salt accumulation.
In open-field conditions, it can be applied during soil cultivation or alongside irrigation. Late-season applications are beneficial for perennial crops, helping to harden tissues and increase winter hardiness.
Restrictions
Do not mix concentrated monopotassium phosphate with fertilizers containing calcium or magnesium, as this will lead to the formation of insoluble precipitates. These nutrients must be applied in separate cycles.
Avoid spraying during high-noon heat or under intense solar radiation. Rapid evaporation can concentrate the salts on the leaf surface, leading to chemical burns on sensitive plant tissue.
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Exposure to humidity can cause the product to cake or clump, making accurate measurement and rapid dissolution difficult.
Wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves and goggles, when handling the dry powder. While relatively safe, dust contact can cause irritation to the eyes and mucous membranes.
To prevent soil salinization in container-grown or greenhouse plants, it is advisable to flush the substrate with pure water periodically to remove accumulated ballast salts.
