Startups INERA and CropNXT Partner to Bring Biological Agri-Inputs to Farmers Across 5 Indian States
Agri-startups INERA Crop Science and CropNXT Solutions have formed a strategic partnership to distribute biological crop inputs to smallholder farmers across five eastern Indian states.
Agri-tech startups INERA Crop Science and CropNXT Solutions have officially announced a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at scaling the adoption of biological agricultural inputs. This collaboration focuses on transitioning smallholder farmers in five eastern Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha—to more sustainable farming practices. By leveraging their combined expertise, the companies intend to reach approximately 6.5 million farmers throughout the duration of the agreement.
Under the terms of the deal, INERA will supply its specialized portfolio of biological agricultural inputs, which are derived from soil microbes and natural nutrient cycles. CropNXT will manage the distribution of these products through its robust network of over 5,000 retailers and channel partners in the target region. The strategic alliance is designed to create a comprehensive supply chain that ensures these innovative, science-led agricultural solutions reach the grassroots level.
The target for this initiative is to expand the adoption of biological inputs across approximately 2 million acres of cultivated land. The projected business potential of this partnership is estimated at ₹500 crore. This figure highlights the significant market opportunity for science-based biological solutions in India, driven by the urgent need to address the challenges of climate change and soil degradation affecting smallholder farmers.
Agam Khare, founder of INERA Crop Science, emphasized the real-world impact of the partnership, noting that climate change is already manifesting on farms through increased heat stress, pest pressures, and rising input costs. The collaboration with CropNXT is designed to deliver practical, scalable solutions to farmers who need them most. By moving from lab-based research to on-field implementation, the companies aim to build agricultural resilience.
Ajeet Singh Chahal, founder of CropNXT, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that the agreement brings sustainable, science-led solutions that are relevant to current agricultural needs and essential for the future. The biological agri-input market in India has seen rapid growth recently, supported by government initiatives to reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals and minimize the environmental footprint of farming. This partnership serves as a key development in promoting greener agricultural productivity across the region.
