The plant features a fibrous, persistent stem topped with a dense rosette of narrow, leathery leaves. These anatomical features are structural adaptations for surviving intense sun and prolonged periods of drought in its natural habitat.
Cultivation requires a specialized mineral-based substrate that provides rapid drainage. A mix comprising coarse sand, grit, and minimal organic matter is essential to simulate its native rocky environment and prevent root asphyxiation.
Light intensity is the most critical environmental factor; the species thrives under full sun or very bright filtered light. Insufficient light leads to etiolation, where the stem becomes weak and the foliage loses its characteristic compactness.
