Scilla forbesii, commonly known as a type of glory-of-the-snow, is a perennial bulb that is typically propagated through division or commercial bulb planting. The optimal time for planting is during the late summer to early autumn, allowing the bulbs to establish root systems before ground freeze.
When propagating via seeds, they should be sown fresh, immediately after harvest, into prepared garden beds or containers. Seeds require a period of cold stratification to overcome dormancy, making late autumn the best time to ensure successful germination in the spring.
Bulbs should be planted at a depth of approximately 8–10 centimeters to protect them from winter frost cycles and to ensure stability. Proper spacing of 10–15 centimeters between bulbs is crucial to prevent overcrowding and to promote healthy vegetative growth for subsequent seasons.
The soil should be amended with well-rotted organic matter such as compost or leaf mold before planting. Good drainage is an absolute necessity to prevent bulb rot, especially in regions with heavy rainfall during the late winter and spring seasons.

Fertilization with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer or high-potash formulation in early spring helps boost flower performance. Excessive nitrogen should be avoided to prevent leggy, weak foliage growth and to focus the plant's energy on bulb development.

Viral infections can cause mottled leaves and stunted flower spikes, which are incurable once established. Maintaining high hygiene standards by sterilizing garden tools and promptly removing symptomatic plants is vital for the health of the entire collection.
Regular monitoring of the foliage and bulbs during the growing season allows for early intervention. Ensuring proper crop rotation and preventing bulb overcrowding are the most effective cultural practices to minimize the impact of typical bulb diseases.
