Unlike other copper compounds, the tribasic formulation provides a steady release of copper ions. This feature ensures long-lasting residual activity on foliage, offering consistent protection even in humid environments.

As a surface-active agent, it does not penetrate plant tissues. Its efficacy depends entirely on uniform application, as it acts strictly as a barrier. Complete coverage of all plant parts is essential to maximize the protective potential of the treatment.

The compound is recognized for its superior resistance to wash-off caused by rain compared to traditional copper mixtures. This stability allows the active ingredient to remain on the leaf surface for extended intervals between applications.

Preparation of the spray solution requires using clean water with a neutral pH to ensure stability. Continuous agitation in the spray tank is critical to prevent the sedimentation of particles and ensure an even distribution across the field.

Adherence to the maximum number of seasonal applications is vital. Overuse of copper can lead to soil accumulation, which may negatively impact soil health and nutrient uptake in sensitive crops over time.

A mandatory pre-harvest interval (PHI) must be respected. This interval, usually several weeks, allows for the natural degradation and weathering of the copper residue, ensuring the final product meets food safety and quality standards.

Restrictions

Compatibility with other pesticides is limited. Mixing tribasic copper sulfate with acidic formulations or certain organophosphates is strictly prohibited, as it can cause chemical degradation and reduce the effectiveness of both products.

Application during blooming should be avoided to protect pollinators and prevent potential phytotoxicity. Extremely high temperatures during the day can also increase the risk of leaf burn, so early morning or late evening treatments are advised.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory during handling and application. Copper-based compounds are respiratory and skin irritants, and direct contact must be avoided by using appropriate gloves, masks, and eye protection.

Environmental precautions are necessary, especially when spraying near water bodies. Copper is toxic to aquatic organisms, including fish and invertebrates, so maintaining buffer zones and preventing spray drift is crucial for environmental stewardship.

Equipment must be thoroughly flushed after use. All spray residues and empty containers must be disposed of according to local regulations regarding hazardous waste to prevent soil and water contamination.
