The Inflated click beetle (Corymbites inflatus) is a member of the Elateridae family, order Coleoptera. Adults are characterized by an elongated body, typically measuring 10–15 mm in length, with a dark brown to black coloration.
The species is distinguished by its slightly inflated pronotum shape. Like all click beetles, it possesses a unique thoracic mechanism that enables it to flip itself over with a loud click when turned upside down.
The larvae, widely known as wireworms, are cylindrical with tough, chitinized exoskeletons. Their body is smooth, firm, and usually yellow-brown, giving them the appearance of a piece of wire.
They possess strong, well-developed mouthparts used for burrowing through the soil and chewing through the root systems of various host plants.
The larval stage is long and consists of multiple instars, during which the wireworm lives entirely underground, making it a difficult pest to monitor and manage.
What it damages
The primary economic damage is caused by the wireworm larvae, which feed on the roots, tubers, and seeds of a wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops.

When it appears

Tuber crops like potatoes exhibit small entry holes on the surface, which lead to deep tunnels throughout the interior of the tuber, often accompanied by rot.
