How to identify

Auger beetles, belonging to the family Bostrichidae, are small to medium-sized beetles named for their unique appearance, where the head is often tucked beneath a hood-like pronotum.

In infested structural wood, one might notice sagging floors or weakened beams, which occurs when the structural integrity has been severely compromised from within.

Audible sounds, such as clicking or rasping, can sometimes be detected during the larvae's feeding process, especially in quiet environments.

Chemical treatments involve the application of residual insecticides to wood surfaces and systemic pesticides for protecting orchard trees during flight periods.
