Adults possess a characteristic pear-shaped body and a slender, elongated rostrum (snout). Their coloration is generally dark, ranging from black to dark brown, often covered with sparse, fine hairs.
They are well-adapted for flight, allowing them to migrate between fields effectively to locate host plants, especially during the peak of the growing season.
The larvae are apodous (legless), slightly curved, and creamy-white in color with a darker head capsule. They live endophytically, meaning they feed and develop entirely within the host plant tissue.
Pupation also takes place within the plant, usually inside the buds or developing pods, where the insect is protected from external environmental conditions.
What it damages
These weevils primarily target legume crops, including various forage legumes and economically important pulses like peas and beans, causing significant physiological damage.

Signs of infestation
