The host range of lace bugs is extensive, encompassing deciduous trees, various shrubs, and several ornamental plant species. They are particularly problematic for fruit-bearing trees such as apples and pears, as well as plants grown in greenhouses and nurseries. Their presence is often detected by the stippling effect on the foliage.
The life cycle of these pests consists of eggs, nymphs, and adults. Adults typically overwinter in protected areas such as leaf litter, soil crevices, or under tree bark. As temperatures rise in spring, they migrate to the foliage to lay eggs on the underside of leaves, allowing them to complete multiple generations throughout the growing season.
Damage caused by lace bugs manifests as distinct chlorotic spotting on the upper leaf surface, resulting from the extraction of plant cell contents.
