The family Agelenidae, commonly known as funnel-web spiders, belongs to the order Araneae. It is a critical agronomic misconception to classify these spiders as crop pests. Agelenidae are exclusively carnivorous arachnids that do not feed on plant tissues, sap, or roots. They do not possess the biological apparatus to damage crops and therefore do not cause any yield losses through feeding.
