Potassium humate "Eco-Organica" is a product designed for eliminating oil spills and old oil leaks, deactivating oil sludge. It is based on potassium salts of humic acids produced by alkaline processing of peat.
The method of reclaiming oil-contaminated soils and water bodies using humic substances is currently one of the most promising and cost-effective methods. This is due to the fact that humic substances are universal and combine the properties of several types of substances:
bind hydrophobic organic compounds and metal ions (adsorbent properties),
improve the physical and chemical properties of soils by structuring them, increasing water retention, enhancing gas exchange, etc. (ameliorant properties),
undergo chemical reactions with a wide range of both organic and inorganic compounds (antidote and detoxifying properties),
catalyze exchange processes in plant cells and bacterial metabolism (stimulant properties).
Soils enriched with humic substances can withstand much higher technogenic loads. In addition, humic substances are of natural origin, and their use does not cause additional negative impacts on ecosystems.
Application of the product at the mechanical and physico-chemical stages of accident cleanup will prevent further penetration of oil products into the soil and groundwater (spreading over the water surface). At the biological stage of accident cleanup, the product acts as a growth stimulant and catalyst of bacterial cell metabolism, increasing the resistance of microorganisms to adverse environmental factors. In addition, "Potassium Humate "Eco-Organica"" has a broad spectrum of biological activity and is used as a biogenic additive for feeding and stimulating the activity of both native and introduced oil-degrading microorganisms.

Studies conducted in 2006 by the Lomonosov Moscow State University revealed the potential of using "Potassium Humate "Eco-Organica"" for detoxifying oil-contaminated soil and binding oil products in groundwater.
Laboratory experiments showed that applying high doses of POTASSIUM HUMATE (approximately 200-300 g/kg) enhances the degradation of oil products, especially their heavy components. Despite the short duration of the experiment (28 days), the application of these doses of POTASSIUM HUMATE reduced the oil product content in the soil by 77% compared to the initial concentration and by 30% compared to the control.
POTASSIUM HUMATE also effectively binds oil products that enter water bodies, preventing their migration into water-soil horizons. Primarily, the product prevents the transfer of oil products from soil to water. According to the results of experiments, applying POTASSIUM HUMATE at concentrations of 200-300 g/kg in the soil reduces the transfer of oil products into water (and consequently, into groundwater) by more than 90% compared to the control. This reduction occurs almost immediately, providing protection for groundwater already in the first days of application.
Field trials of the product were conducted from June to August 2011 at sites of OAO "Surgutneftegas". According to the Environmental Safety and Natural Resource Management Department of "Surgutneftegas", visual assessment of treated areas already allows concluding on its effectiveness, manifested as noticeable intensification of growth of abiotic plants. Quantitative soil analysis results on residual oil product content showed an average efficiency of 27.1%, and maximum efficiency of 81.2%.
