РОУ

Working with the ROU Spreader

When it comes to spreading organic fertilizer, the ROU remains a workhorse that doesn't shy away from the toughest fields. Unlike modern machines loaded with sensitive electronics, this unit is appreciated for its rugged simplicity. Its primary function — uniform distribution of fertilizers — is handled effectively, provided the conveyor speed is properly synchronized with the tractor's ground speed.

Maintenance and Repairability

For an operator, the main advantage of the ROU is accessibility. The conveyor drive chains are the most critical components; they require regular lubrication and tension checks to prevent downtime during the peak season. The chassis withstands harsh environments well, but corrosion is an inevitable enemy, making a thorough wash after every shift mandatory. Spare parts for the ROU are widely available, allowing for field repairs — usually involving replacing bearings or chain links — which can be handled by the operator without needing a service team.

Practical Field Tips

• Calibrating application rates: Success depends on matching tractor speed with PTO RPM. It is worth spending time with a scale to determine exactly how much material is being spread per hectare.
• Load management: While the running gear is robust, avoiding excessive overloads will significantly extend the lifespan of the wheel hubs and frame.
• Handling: The machine tracks reasonably well on damp soil due to its weight distribution, though it is not a cure-all for extremely muddy conditions.

Overall, this equipment is designed for owners who prefer hands-on control and maintenance over paying for high-tech features that don't directly impact crop yield. It is a straightforward, reliable tool that gets the job done.
