Morphogenesis Control Mechanism

The growth regulator Terpal® by Basf S.A. is a high-tech combination of two active ingredients: mepiquat chloride and ethephon. This combination is precise: mepiquat chloride inhibits gibberellin synthesis to prevent internode elongation, while ethephon stimulates ethylene release, which reinforces the culm walls and enhances root system development.

Technical Field Performance

• Stem Architecture: The product specifically shortens the internodes in the lower part of the stem. This is critical for winter cereals (wheat, barley, triticale), as the lower nodes determine the plant's structural resistance to lodging.
• Metabolite Partitioning: Through component synergy, Terpal® redirects nutrients from excessive vegetative growth toward productive tiller development. This increases the tillering coefficient and supports full ear formation.
• Application Profile: The soluble concentrate formulation ensures rapid availability of the active ingredients immediately after spraying. With a hazard class of 3, the product is easily integrated into standard crop protection schemes.

Practical application is limited to one treatment per season, requiring high precision in dosage (1 to 2.5 l/ha) depending on the crop's growth stage and soil fertility. Using Terpal® is an investment in harvesting efficiency, ensuring standing crops even under challenging moisture and high-wind conditions.
