Seed protection strategy: field experience with Tiatrin

Securing uniform emergence is the cornerstone of a successful harvest. For our sunflower and corn crops, we rely on Tiatrin by «Агрохімічні технології» to mitigate the risk posed by wireworms, ground beetles, and various soil-borne pests. It acts as a shield, protecting the seed during its most vulnerable stage of development.

The formulation combines Thiamethoxam and Beta-cyfluthrin. While Thiamethoxam provides systemic protection through the plant tissues, Beta-cyfluthrin acts as a powerful contact agent. This dual-action approach ensures that any pest attempting to feed on the emerging seedling is neutralized immediately.

Practical application insights

• Equipment friendliness: As an emulsion, the product is remarkably easy to work with in seed treatment machines. It flows well, does not clog nozzles, and adheres consistently to the seeds. This prevents dust-off and ensures every seed is evenly coated.
• Dosage flexibility: With application rates ranging from 0.5 to 3.0 l/t, Tiatrin allows for customized treatment based on the specific pest pressure in our fields. Whether we are treating winter wheat or corn, the flexibility in dosage makes it cost-effective for different intensity levels.
• Long-lasting effect: Tiatrin is systemic. A single treatment provides the plants with protection throughout the early stages of growth, allowing them to focus energy on development rather than survival against aphids, flea beetles, or leafhoppers.

For us, Tiatrin is a reliable tool that simplifies the sowing process. By integrating protection into the seed treatment phase, we eliminate the need for early-stage spraying, saving both time and fuel. It carries a Class 3 hazard rating, so standard safety protocols for handling agrochemicals are sufficient to manage the product safely.
