«Sphinx Extra» by F.Makhteshim Chemical Works is a specialized crop protection agent engineered to control critical grapevine pathogens. The product’s technical superiority is grounded in the synergy of two active ingredients: dimethomorph and folpet, which provide comprehensive defense against fungal threats.

Technical Breakdown of Active Ingredients

• Dimethomorph: A member of the morpholine derivative class. Its primary function is to inhibit the synthesis of phospholipids within the pathogen’s cell membrane. As a systemic component, it penetrates the leaf tissue, effectively blocking mycelium development during spore germination and haustoria formation.
• Folpet: A contact fungicide from the phthalimide family. It serves as a multi-site inhibitor, acting on multiple fungal metabolic pathways simultaneously. This mechanism is crucial for preventing the development of resistance in downy mildew and leaf rubella (red blotch).

The combination of systemic and contact modes of action enables both curative properties (stopping existing infections) and protective properties (preventing new outbreaks). The formulation as water-dispersible granules ensures optimal solubility, preventing sedimentation in the spray tank and ensuring no nozzle clogging during application.

With a dosage rate of 1.8–2 kg/ha, «Sphinx Extra» provides a robust shield for the crop. The application schedule allows for up to 3 treatments per season.
