In the professional orchard management, especially regarding pome fruits, using a reliable solution is key to preventing crop loss. Bellis by BASF S.A. has become a staple for our growers when managing complex fungal diseases. It leverages the synergy between boscalid and pyraclostrobin, acting not just as a treatment but as a physiological enhancer that improves fruit quality.

Field Experience and Application

Working with apples and pears, we have found that Bellis provides superior protection against scab, powdery mildew, and storage rots.

• Formulation: The water-dispersible granules are easy to handle. They dissolve perfectly in the sprayer tank, ensuring that nozzles do not clog during long hours of operation.
• Systemic Action: The product is absorbed quickly by the plant tissues, providing consistent results even when external conditions are challenging.
• Dosage and Timing: We typically use a rate of 0.5–1.0 kg/ha. With a short pre-harvest interval of just 10 days, it offers great flexibility in our harvest planning.

Operational Insights

We restrict the usage to a maximum of three treatments per season to maintain efficiency. Despite being a powerful systemic agent, the 3rd hazard class makes it manageable with standard personal protective equipment. Unlike simple contact fungicides, Bellis provides that extra level of security against late-season rots, ensuring the fruit holds up well in storage.
