Claas Arion 640

Living with the Claas Arion: A Practical Perspective

When you spend 10 hours a day in the cab, the difference between a decent tractor and a great one becomes painfully obvious. The Claas Arion is clearly built for the operator. The combination of cab suspension and the Proactiv front axle means you aren't fighting the machine; you’re guiding it. It saves your back, and by the end of the shift, you aren't completely drained.

Engine Performance and Efficiency

Whether you're running the HEXASHIFT or CMATIC transmission, the power delivery is smooth and direct. The engines handle high-torque tasks well, never feeling like they are struggling under a heavy load. Fuel consumption is well-managed; the engine management system knows how to keep the RPMs in the sweet spot, which makes a noticeable difference in your operating costs over a full season.

Maintenance and Daily Operation

Let’s talk about serviceability: getting to the oil filters, checking fluids, or cleaning out the radiators doesn't require a degree in engineering or a set of acrobatics. The layout is intuitive. The CEBIS terminal is a powerful tool—it doesn't just throw vague error codes at you, it helps you identify the issue so you can get back to work faster.

• The service intervals are well-spaced, which keeps the tractor in the field rather than the workshop.
• The transmission is robust and forgiving, even when working with less experienced drivers.
• High hydraulic capacity allows for seamless operation with heavy seeders and cultivators.

The Arion fits the role of a "jack-of-all-trades" perfectly. It’s not the biggest machine for deep subsoiling, but for everything else—transport, planting, and lighter tillage—it’s one of the most reliable workhorses you can have on the farm.
