Ourisia ruellioides is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Plantaginaceae family. It is native to the cold and moist subantarctic regions of South America, specifically inhabiting the lush, temperate rainforests and stream banks of Chile and Argentina.

Botanically, this species is defined by its prostrate habit, forming dense mats of deep green, serrated foliage. During the flowering season, it produces striking, tubular flowers in shades of intense red or scarlet, held on upright spikes that provide significant ornamental value.
