It prefers fertile, slightly acidic to neutral soil that provides excellent drainage. While it is adaptable to various soil types, it performs best in loose, sandy loam where oxygen can easily reach the root zone.
This species is highly sensitive to cold and is strictly a tropical or subtropical plant. Temperatures falling below 5 degrees Celsius can cause significant damage or death, necessitating overwintering in a greenhouse or bright indoor location.
Agrotechnical practices involve a consistent irrigation schedule during the warm months, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. Fertilization with a balanced NPK ratio during the active growth period supports continuous flowering.
