Description
Growing requirements
This intergeneric hybrid belongs to the Crassulaceae family. It is a prized ornamental plant, valued for its rosettes of thick, succulent leaves and the unique, vibrant flowers inherited from its parent plants.
Successful cultivation requires bright, filtered sunlight. Excessive direct sun can cause leaf scorch, while low light conditions lead to etiolation, where the plant stretches and loses its natural compact rosette structure.
A well-draining, porous soil mix is essential for plant health. Professional growers recommend a mixture of succulent potting soil combined with perlite, grit, or pumice to ensure rapid drainage and prevent water accumulation.
The plant thrives in moderate temperatures between 20°C and 25°C during the growing season. A cooler, dormant period during winter, with temperatures around 10–15°C, is recommended to ensure robust growth and flower development in the spring.
Irrigation must be controlled carefully using the soak-and-dry method. Allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings is the most critical factor in preventing root rot and ensuring long-term plant survival.
Main diseases and pests
The primary threats include fungal rot caused by overwatering or poor air circulation. Common pests include mealybugs, which tend to congregate in leaf crevices, and occasionally aphids during the flowering stage.
