When cultivating in nurseries, seeds should be sown into a substrate enriched with coarse sand and crushed stone. Proper drainage is the most important factor in the initial stage, as excessive moisture often leads to seed decay before the development of the radicle.

Controlled germination involves a cold stratification period of four to six weeks at temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius. Post-stratification, the containers should be placed in a bright, cool environment where temperatures remain below 15 degrees Celsius.
