This species is biologically adapted to harsh, arid climates characterized by hot, dry summers and cool winters. Its robust root system enables the plant to thrive in low-moisture environments, making it a potentially resilient crop for cultivation in semi-arid agricultural zones.

Optimal growth requires well-drained, sandy or loamy soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. The species is highly sensitive to waterlogging; thus, planting in low-lying areas or heavy clay soils requires intensive soil preparation and drainage management to prevent root rot.

The plant is obligately heliophilic, requiring full exposure to direct sunlight throughout the growing season. In commercial cultivation, spacing is crucial to ensure that every individual plant receives adequate light, which is necessary for the proper synthesis of secondary metabolites within the plant tissues.
