To cultivate this plant successfully, one must replicate its natural habitat by providing full sun exposure. The species is highly photophilous, and maintaining a high level of light intensity is essential for preserving its structural integrity and the characteristic color patterns of its stems.
Soil requirements for Euphorbia fuscolanata are strict regarding drainage. A standard succulent mix should be supplemented with at least 50% inorganic material, such as coarse pumice, perlite, or grit, to ensure that water passes through the container rapidly without saturating the roots.
