Seeds should be planted at a depth of 1 to 2 centimeters. Ensuring proper soil-to-seed contact is critical, as the species relies on soil moisture and ambient temperature fluctuations to break seed dormancy effectively.
When cultivating in organized fields, spacing rows at least 45 to 60 centimeters apart provides enough room for the plants to establish their significant basal leaf rosettes. Since the plant develops a deep taproot, it should be seeded directly into its final growing location.
