Bordeaux Mixture: Reliable Protection for Your Garden

Gardening has always been an important branch of agriculture, providing us with delicious fruits and vegetables from our own garden. However, to achieve high yields and maintain plant health, it is necessary to take care of their protection. One of the most effective means of protecting the garden is Bordeaux mixture, often also called "Bordeaux liquid."

Principle of action of Bordeaux mixture and its composition

Bordeaux mixture - this is an important tool in fighting diseases and pests in the garden. This preparation is based on mixing water, lime, and copper sulfate (also known as copper sulfate). The main active component is copper, known for its antiseptic and fungicidal properties. Copper in Bordeaux mixture helps prevent the development of fungal infections, such as powdery mildew, and destroys pests such as leaf-eaters.

Instructions for preparing Bordeaux mixture

To prepare Bordeaux mixture, you must carefully calculate the proportions of the components.
First, to prepare Bordeaux mixture, you must prepare two solutions. The first solution is created by dissolving lime in two liters of hot water, provided that the temperature does not exceed 50°C. The second solution is prepared by dissolving copper powder in the same amount of hot water.

Then both solutions are diluted with cold water until each reaches a volume of 5 liters. Then, slowly pour the copper sulfate into the lime solution, constantly stirring to achieve homogeneity.
Typically, for 10 liters of water, 100 grams of lime and 100 grams of copper sulfate are used. This results in a 1% Bordeaux mixture. If you need to make a 3% Bordeaux mixture, 300 grams of lime and copper sulfate are added.  It is important to add components in the correct sequence, dissolve them thoroughly, and ensure there is no sediment in the solution.

Features of use

When using Bordeaux mixture, it is necessary to follow certain rules and exercise caution. It is important to remember safety: wear rubber gloves and a mask to avoid contact of the solution with your skin during preparation.

Conclusion

Bordeaux mixture is a reliable means of protecting your garden from diseases and pests. It will help ensure high yields and keep plants healthy. By following instructions and recommendations, you will be able to enjoy lush plants and delicious fruits in your garden. Take care of your garden, and it will reward you doubly!
