Fenoprop belongs to the class of phenoxycarboxylic acid derivatives. It functions as a systemic herbicide that acts as a synthetic auxin—a plant hormone regulating growth.
Upon application, the active ingredient is absorbed by leaves and roots, moving rapidly through the vascular system to the growing points. This triggers uncontrolled cell division, tissue deformation, and death.
The disruption of metabolic pathways prevents the plant from absorbing essential nutrients and water. Eventually, the weed experiences chlorosis and structural failure, leading to total destruction.
Products based on fenoprop are highly selective, though their efficacy depends strictly on the weed growth stage. Young, actively growing weeds are the most susceptible.
Due to its high biological activity, the substance exhausts perennial weeds by forcing them to deplete their energy reserves through abnormal growth patterns.
What it targets
