The mode of action involves the disruption of the fungal cell membrane integrity. By interfering with the membrane structure, the substance halts the respiration and metabolic processes of the pathogen, leading to its rapid death.

Unlike systemic products, iminoctadine forms a persistent protective film on leaves and fruits. This physical barrier prevents fungal spores from germinating and penetrating the plant cuticle.

The compound is highly resistant to being washed away by rain, which makes it an excellent choice for protective applications during periods of high humidity and frequent precipitation in the spring.

It has no known cross-resistance with other major fungicide classes, such as triazoles, making it a valuable tool in integrated pest management and resistance-breaking strategies.

What it targets

Iminoctadine is primarily registered for the control of fungal diseases in pome and stone fruit orchards. It is particularly effective against a range of leaf and fruit-spotting pathogens.

The most important target is the control of scab in apples and pears. The fungicide provides excellent suppression of the primary inoculum, reducing the spread of the disease during the early stages of growth.

It is also utilized to manage various types of anthracnose and other fungal blights that affect fruit quality and reduce shelf life. Regular application helps maintain the aesthetic and commercial value of the produce.

The substance can be applied to nursery stock to ensure that young trees develop healthy foliage without the burden of severe fungal infections that could stunt their growth.

The compound is toxic to aquatic organisms. It is strictly prohibited to dispose of waste spray solutions or rinse water in or near ponds, streams, or other water bodies.

When creating tank mixes, compatibility tests must be performed. Iminoctadine may react poorly with highly alkaline pesticides, which could lead to chemical degradation and reduced biological efficacy.

Storage should be in the original, tightly sealed containers within a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area that is inaccessible to unauthorized personnel, children, and pets.

All packaging and leftover products must be disposed of according to local environmental regulations. Never empty containers into the soil or public sewage systems.
