Description
Mode of action
Brandol is a group of systemic fungicides based on triazole derivatives. These substances are capable of rapidly penetrating plant tissues and moving acropetally, which provides protection even for plant parts that were not covered by the spray solution during application.
The mechanism of action of this group involves inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis within the pathogen cells. Without ergosterol, the fungus cannot form a cell membrane, which leads to the immediate cessation of mycelial growth and the death of the disease pathogen.
The active ingredients of this group have a pronounced preventive and curative effect. The preventive action prevents fungal spores from germinating on the leaf surface, while the curative action stops the infection from developing after the parasite has penetrated the plant.
The systemic nature of Brandol preparations ensures a long period of protection, which, depending on climatic conditions and crop growth intensity, can range from 14 to 21 days.
Formulations based on these compounds are highly resistant to being washed away by rainfall a few hours after application, making them a reliable tool under unpredictable weather conditions.
What it targets
The Brandol group is used to control a wide range of fungal diseases in cereal crops, sugar beets, and other agricultural plants.
The primary targets for these fungicides are rust fungi, which cause leaf and stem rust, a critical factor for maintaining the yield of winter wheat.
The preparations effectively suppress powdery mildew fungi that attack leaves and stems under conditions of high humidity or drought, reducing the photosynthetic activity of the plant.
Also, agents of this group are used against various types of leaf spots, including septoria and tan spot, which are capable of destroying a significant portion of the crop's leaf canopy.

Rates and timing
Application rates for Brandol active ingredients are selected based on the level of the phytopathogenic background, the crop development stage, and regional weather conditions.
Usually, treatments are performed during the growing season at the first signs of disease; however, preventive application before widespread infection is considered most effective.
The frequency of treatments per season is limited: in most cases, a maximum of two applications is allowed to prevent the development of resistance in disease pathogens to the active ingredient.
The working solution must be prepared immediately before application using clean water, ensuring uniform coverage of the leaf surface to achieve maximum results.
The use of this group of preparations is most justified during the tillering and stem elongation stages for winter crops, as well as during row closure for industrial crops.
Restrictions
The primary limitation is the necessity of rotating with fungicides from other chemical classes to combat the emergence of pathogen resistance.
It is not recommended to spray when air temperatures exceed 25 degrees Celsius and humidity is low, as this reduces the efficiency of the preparation's penetration.
An important requirement is adherence to the waiting periods between the final treatment and the start of harvest, which vary from 20 to 40 days depending on the crop.
When working with these preparations, the use of personal protective equipment for skin, respiratory organs, and eyes is mandatory to eliminate the risk of poisoning.
Disposal of containers and remaining working solution must be carried out strictly in accordance with environmental regulations to prevent substances from entering water bodies and groundwater.
