Mode of action

Willaertia magna lysate is a biologically active substance produced through the fermentation and controlled lysis of Willaertia magna amoeboids. It is classified as a potent biostimulant and elicitor of the plant immune response.

The primary mechanism of action involves the activation of Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) in crops. Upon contact with the plant surface, components of the lysate are recognized by receptors as biological danger signals, triggering protective signaling cascades.

This process induces the synthesis of phytoalexins, lignin, and pathogenesis-related proteins, which harden plant tissues and make them less susceptible to colonization by fungal or bacterial pathogens.

Beyond immune modulation, the lysate provides a rich profile of amino acids, nucleotides, and peptides, which are directly absorbed by the plant to accelerate recovery and metabolic efficiency after environmental stress.

It acts as a training tool for the plant's immune system, allowing the crop to respond faster and more robustly to external biotic threats, rather than killing pathogens directly like a synthetic fungicide.

What it targets

It is used primarily to increase the resistance of agricultural crops to a complex of fungal and bacterial diseases, including powdery mildew, rusts, various leaf spots, and root rots.

The application is suitable for cereals, vegetable crops (both greenhouse and open field), fruit trees, and viticulture. It is most effective when applied preventively during critical growth stages.

The product also helps plants cope with abiotic stress factors such as thermal fluctuations, drought, or excessive UV radiation, thereby improving overall crop survival rates.

Through its complex impact, the lysate contributes to improved harvest quality, including better sugar levels, vitamin content, and storage durability of the produce.

Rates and timing

Application rates vary depending on the concentration of the active lysate in the specific commercial product. Always follow the manufacturer's label instructions for the specific crop and application method.

Treatments are conducted by foliar spraying during the growing season. Typically, 1 to 3 applications per season are recommended with a 10–14 day interval to maintain the induced immunity.

Spraying should be performed during early morning or evening hours to avoid intense direct sunlight, ensuring optimal absorption of the biological components by the leaf tissue.

The lysate is generally compatible with most micronutrient fertilizers, although a jar compatibility test is always recommended before mixing to avoid potential precipitation.

Avoid mixing with strong systemic fungicides unless specifically authorized by the protocol, to prevent any negative impact on the lysate's biological activity.

Restrictions

As a biostimulant rather than a direct pesticide, it should be combined with conventional fungicides in cases of severe disease pressure. It does not possess significant eradicating power on its own.

Store the product in a cool, dark place, protected from direct sunlight and temperature extremes, as biological components are susceptible to thermal and UV degradation.

Standard safety precautions for handling biological products should be followed, including the use of protective clothing, gloves, and respiratory protection if necessary.

Avoid overdosing, as excessive stimulation of immune pathways can temporarily redirect metabolic energy away from vegetative growth, potentially slowing down crop development.

The product generally has no or very short pre-harvest intervals, making it a flexible tool for use throughout the season until the final harvest phases.
