Upon contact with the leaf surface or the root zone, the components of the extracts are recognized by plant receptors as stress elicitors. This triggers the production of defense proteins and enzymes that prevent pathogens from penetrating plant tissues.
Biologically active compounds found in oak, prickly pear, sumac, and red mangrove extracts possess pronounced antioxidant effects. They stabilize cell membranes, preventing damage from UV radiation and high temperatures.
Thanks to the presence of tannins, these products create a thin protective film on the plant's surface. This barrier mechanically limits the development of fungal mycelium and slows down bacterial colonization of tissues.
Unlike classical synthetic fungicides, this group acts gently, not by causing immediate toxic shock to harmful organisms, but by creating an unfavorable environment for their feeding and reproduction.
What it targets
Products based on this mixture of extracts are primarily used to combat fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew, various types of leaf spots, and gray mold in their early stages.
Certain components of the group, especially prickly pear extract, exhibit an indirect insecticidal effect against small sucking pests. They make the plant's cell sap less attractive to aphids and thrips.
The products are effective against a wide range of phytopathogenic bacteria that cause wilting in vegetable crops in greenhouse production. Regular application reduces the overall infectious background in the agroecosystem.
The use of this group is justified in controlling early manifestations of rust on cereal crops. The extracts help the plant mobilize internal resources to localize infection spots.

Rates and timing

The interval between treatments is usually 7–14 days, depending on weather conditions and the level of infection pressure in the field. If heavy rains are forecast, the interval should be shortened.
The application rate depends on the crop's vegetative mass: the larger the leaf surface area, the higher the volume of the working fluid needed for uniform wetting.
Plant-based products require thorough mixing in the sprayer tank before starting the operation. If the solution has been sitting for a long time, agitation is necessary before resuming spraying.
Restrictions
The main limitation concerns incompatibility with aggressive chemical pesticides, which can destroy the structure of the extract's organic molecules. A compatibility test is recommended.
Application is not recommended during active flowering when pollinators are highly active, as the specific scent of the extracts may temporarily disorient beneficial insects.
Avoid contact of the concentrate with human mucous membranes. Although the preparations are natural, a high concentration of tannins can cause local irritation.
Store the products in a place protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Direct sunlight destroys delicate plant polyphenols, reducing the product's effectiveness to zero.
The group's products do not replace full fungicide protection during epiphytotics; rather, they serve as an excellent tool for integrated pest management and organic farming.
