The primary mechanism of action involves competitive exclusion. By occupying the rhizosphere, these bacteria physically block pathogens from attaching to the root surface and accessing host nutrients.

The strain produces bioactive metabolites, such as lipopeptides and surfactants, which disrupt the cellular integrity of various fungi and bacteria. This lethal effect prevents infection spread.

Furthermore, RTI301 induces systemic resistance in plants. This biochemical response primes the plant's immune system, making it more resilient to various abiotic stresses and opportunistic diseases.

The bacterial activity also enhances soil health by promoting the decomposition of organic matter, which increases the availability of essential micronutrients for plant uptake.

What it targets

This biological agent is specifically effective against common soil-borne pathogens. It is widely used to combat infections caused by various destructive genera such as Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, and Pythium.

The use of RTI301 is highly recommended for the prevention of seedling diseases, including damping-off, which often compromises crop stands in the early stages of growth.

In irrigation-based applications, the product is delivered directly to the root zone, ensuring the bacteria establish a colony near the vital nutrient-absorbing tissues of the plant.

Treatment intervals are typically scheduled based on the crop cycle and environmental conditions, with reapplications every 14–21 days often suggested to maintain high bacterial populations.

As a biological product, it leaves no harmful residues, allowing for continuous harvest schedules without waiting periods after application.

Restrictions

Environmental conditions, particularly soil temperature and moisture, significantly influence the efficacy of this strain. Active growth of the bacteria is optimal between +15°C and +30°C.

Tank mixing with chemical bactericides or specific synthetic fungicides should be avoided, as these products may neutralize the beneficial bacterial population of the RTI301 strain.

Direct exposure to UV light is detrimental to the survival of the bacteria. Applications should ideally occur during evening hours or under overcast weather conditions to ensure maximum viability.

Storage of the product must strictly adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines, avoiding extreme temperatures and direct sunlight to maintain a high live colony-forming unit (CFU) count.
