The key diagnostic feature is the narrow frons (forehead), which gives the species its scientific name. The larvae are white, legless, and have a fleshy, curved body adapted for feeding inside seeds.
The biology of this species is highly specialized, being intrinsically linked to the seeds of legume plants. Over time, it has evolved to become a significant pest in the production of various Fabaceae crops.
