Adult females are generally sedentary, anchoring themselves to plant tissues such as stems and leaf axils. The body is oval-shaped, and the waxy filaments around the perimeter give them a distinct, fuzzy appearance that resembles small tufts of cotton.

Regular visual inspections of the undersides of leaves, crevices in the bark, and growing points are essential. Catching the infestation during the initial crawler stage is key to effective suppression before populations explode.

Biological control methods involving natural enemies such as ladybeetles or parasitic wasps can significantly suppress populations. Maintaining a healthy balance of natural predators is a cornerstone of sustainable pest management.
