Hordeolicoccus is a genus of insects within the family Pseudococcidae, commonly known as mealybugs. These small insects are characterized by their soft bodies covered in white waxy secretions.
The females are wingless and stay relatively stationary for most of their adult life, feeding on plant sap. Males are rarely seen, as they are winged and have a very short lifespan dedicated solely to reproduction.
The crawlers, or first-instar nymphs, are the mobile stage of the lifecycle, responsible for dispersal. They are capable of moving between plants or being carried by wind to new locations.
Systematically, this genus is adapted to live on monocotyledonous hosts, specifically grass species, which makes them potential pests in agricultural settings.

What it damages
