Neotermes voeltzkowi belongs to the family Kalotermitidae, known as drywood termites. These insects are unique because they do not require contact with soil to survive, living exclusively within the wood they consume.
The reproductive caste, known as alates, have dark bodies and fully developed wings. They emerge from the colony to mate and establish new nesting sites in suitable wood sources.
Workers are the primary destructive stage, characterized by a soft, pale, and unpigmented appearance. They spend their entire lives tunneling inside the host plant's tissues.
Soldiers are specialized individuals with large, heavily armored heads and strong mandibles designed to defend the colony against intruders and block off tunnel entrances.

What it damages
