Their reproductive cycle in a controlled environment allows for rapid colonization of structural gaps and irrigation conduits.

The harm caused by these animals is mainly indirect. Beyond the sanitary risks, they can mechanically damage fragile stems or leaves during hunting. More critically, they act as vectors for pathogens, potentially spreading bacteria or fungal spores across different zones of the greenhouse facility on their feet and skin.

Protection and control measures focus on exclusion rather than eradication. It is crucial to seal ventilation ducts with fine mesh and patch structural cracks in the greenhouse frame. Since geckos rely on insect populations for food, maintaining a strict integrated pest management (IPM) program to reduce prey availability is the most sustainable way to deter them from the crop area.
