Okra Vlada

A Breakthrough in Okra Breeding

The 'Vlada' okra, developed by experts at RosNIIPTI SK and Saratov GUGBI, represents the culmination of dedicated breeding efforts aimed at adapting this heat-loving crop to temperate climate conditions. The originator of the variety is OVP 'Pokrovskoe' in collaboration with the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution 'Russian Research and Technological Institute of Sorghum and Corn', underscoring the academic rigor behind its development.

Biological Traits and Habit

This variety exhibits robust vegetative growth, with plant height ranging from 150 to 200 cm. Such stature necessitates proper planting density and adequate nutrition to ensure full development. The fruit shape is traditional for okra—elongated and characterized by a rich green color, making the produce highly attractive for the commercial market and food processing.

Market Positioning and Application

'Vlada' is tailored for commercial farms and agricultural enterprises specializing in exotic or niche vegetable production. Unlike many imported hybrids, this variety has been tested in regional conditions, ensuring predictable yields when proper cultivation practices are followed. Its use spans both the fresh produce market and culinary processing, as okra is highly valued for its high fiber content and unique flavor profile.
