Crimson Ruby watermelon (Crimson Ruby) is an early, high-yielding hybrid developed by the Japanese selection company Sakata in 2010. The ripening period is 60-70 days depending on the cultivation method, allowing for an early harvest. The fruits have an oval-round shape and weigh on average 8 to 12 kg, sometimes reaching larger sizes. The watermelon rind is green with a striped pattern, sufficiently thick, which ensures good storage and the possibility of long-distance transportation without loss of quality.
The flesh is bright red or dark red, dense, granular, and crisp. It has high sugar content — about 12-13% — giving the fruits a rich honey-like flavor and making them among the best dessert varieties. The flesh contains no voids or fibers, improving texture and taste. Crimson Ruby watermelon is excellent for fresh consumption, fruit salads, and fresh juices.
The plant exhibits strong, vigorous growth with long vines and abundant foliage. The hybrid is resistant to major diseases such as Fusarium wilt and anthracnose, increasing reliability in various climatic conditions, including all regions of Ukraine. High seed germination and disease resistance make this variety convenient and profitable for farmers and gardeners.
