Description

Symptoms

The primary symptom is the appearance of white, powdery fungal growth on the surface of leaves, stems, and sometimes flower buds of the Helenium plant.

These white patches start as small spots and gradually enlarge, eventually covering the entire foliage, which inhibits the plant's ability to undergo photosynthesis.

Infected leaves may become distorted, curl upwards, turn yellow, and eventually wither, causing premature leaf drop and an unkempt appearance.

Tiny black spots, known as cleistothecia, may emerge within the white fungal mat during the later stages of the infection as the fungus prepares for dormancy.
