Symptoms

As the disease progresses, these pustules rupture the leaf epidermis, releasing powdery masses of spores. This often leads to severe deformation and curling of the leaves.

Visible signs of decline include premature yellowing and necrosis of leaves. In advanced stages, the plant displays a scorched appearance, and the foliage may drop entirely.

Stems may show signs of swelling or localized lesions where the fungus has colonized deeper tissues, further weakening the structural integrity of the plant.

The overall aesthetic value of the gentian is destroyed, as the plant stops producing healthy, vibrant blooms and loses its characteristic growth habit.
