Symptoms

Under conditions of high humidity, the centers of these lesions become covered with a dense, olive-black velvety growth, representing the mass sporulation of the fungus.
Severely infected leaves become chlorotic, wither, and eventually die prematurely. This leaf drop significantly reduces the plant's photosynthetic capacity, affecting root development.
In cases of severe infection, lesions may spread to petioles and stems, leading to weakened plant structure and potentially reduced plant height or vigor.
Field diagnosis is often confirmed by observing the distinctive dark fungal growth on necrotic tissue under high humidity, usually on the undersides of the leaves.
Pathogen
